As many have heard both McCain and Obama described how much one has to earn per annum to be considered "rich" in his book. The figure presented by McCain was absolutely shocking -- 5 MILLION! Mother Jones covers it with a nice graph and a brief discussion that follows it:

I'm afraid that many of John McCain's "jokes" are just cover-ups for his lapses in memory and lack of knowledge in facts. He probably did not have a good grasp on the statistics to answer this question seriously.
